What were you doing before joining MA?
Between 1998 and 2005 I was employed as a shop Manager for Dillans Newsagents.
Why did you decide to join MA?
I always came to the airport as a young boy with my dad to watch the aircraft taking off and landing and thought it would be an interesting career. When the opportunity arose with Menzies Aviation I applied for a Ramp Agent position and was successful in my application.
What are you working on now?
I am currently working on a training programme to ensure that all ramp employees achieve their key objectives safely and effectively. I have recently passed a ‘train the trainer’ course to enable me to carry out such activities and have also recently passed a First Aid course.
What has been most rewarding about your MA experience?
The most rewarding aspect of working for our company that I have both experienced and witnessed is that any individual who shows initiative can further themselves within the company. I personally have been given the opportunity to progress my career to become a Ramp Lead Agent and have been given the responsibility of supervising one of our biggest customers here in Manchester. I also find that the opportunities are almost endless having qualified on all machinery and equipment used on the ramp including Aircraft towing, Pushback’s, headsets and High loaders to name but a few. Anyone who shows the desire and motivation can experience a varied and rewarding career within the company.
