Safety Award won in Houston

I’m pleased to announce that the Menzies ground handling team in Houston (IAH) have won the prestige’s 2011 Ground Handling International (GHI) – ‘Safety award’ for the US, Canada and Latin America region. The ramp team were positioned to meet a BA aircraft as it arrived on stand when they noticed smoke coming from the main landing gear when one set of wheels suddenly ignited. The ramp team acted promptly and used a fire
extinguisher to suppress and extinguish the flames and in doing so prevented a more serious incident. The employees involved received a voucher from the airline and a watch from Menzies in recognition of the actions.
