IATA Platinum BIP Award to Alaska Airlines - SEA

11/04/12

e-Bulletin from Jason Berry - General Manager SEA

Mishandled baggage is a US$3.3 billion dollar problem for the industry every year. IATA recognized this challenge and launched the Baggage Improvement Program (BIP) in 2007. Alaska Airlines implemented the BIP initiative at their Seattle hub in 2008. Last month IATA presented Alaska Airlines with the prestigious IATA Platinum Baggage Improvement Award. Alaska Airlines is the first airline in the United States and the second in the world to receive this award.

The Seattle based Menzies Aviation team is very proud to have played a significant role in contributing to Alaska Airlines’ success. In honour of the accomplishment, Alaska Airlines placed the award on display in our break room for an afternoon. The event began with an introduction from Jim McBarron, Manager of Station Operations - Alaska Airlines - SEA, followed by a cake reception and an opportunity for all our well-deserving staff to view and pose for pictures with the award they helped achieve.

Congratulations to Annette McBride and the whole Menzies Aviation team here in Seattle!
